Where It Began
After spending a few years working in a restaurant, I found myself craving something new. I’d always loved hospitality, but I was ready for a big change—and an even bigger challenge. One day, while enjoying a coffee with a friend out of town, it hit me: this is what I wanted to do. From that moment on, I was all in. I planned obsessively, took a leap of faith, left my job at the restaurant, and opened Poppy’s Coffee Bar—and I’ve never looked back.
I didn’t just want to serve great coffee. I wanted to create a space where anyone and everyone, from all walks of life, could feel welcome, safe, and at home.
Today, we’re incredibly proud of what Poppy’s has become: a joyful, welcoming hub in the heart of the small town I grew up in.
We opened our doors July 2022!
Where we are now
In April 2024, we moved out of our first little shop and into a brand-new space—double the size and full of possibilities! With seating for up to 25 people, we’re now able to offer more than ever before.
We’re open seven days a week and have expanded our services to include private venue hire for parties and events, both in-house and outside catering, and a whole host of community-focused offerings. We now host weekly parent and baby groups, have a small play area for little ones, and remain proudly dog-friendly. We are also now fully disabled access with a ramp and disabled toilets.
Our menu features a delicious variety of whole and sliced cakes, tasty food options (including gluten-free and dairy-free choices), and a full range of handcrafted drinks—all made with care, including our expertly brewed coffee.
Poppy’s is growing and our mission remains the same: to be a welcoming, vibrant space for everyone.
